The Kokum Tree

We had a wonderful experience at The Kokum Tree. The owners were very hospitable and exuded warmth and made us feel comfortable during our stay. The food was just amazing tickling our taste buds. The walk in the farm and surrounding area was the highlight of our visit. Would definitely visit the property again and have strongly recommend it to our friends .

Our family stayed at Kokum Tree for 3 nights during Diwali and we had the most relaxing and refreshing break from our city routine. Even though the farm is located very close to Lonere town, it feels cut off from the pollution and noise of civilization. The villa is very well decorated and maintained. The food was simple Maharashtrian cuisine which was served in generous quantities and the soup and appetisers in the evening were a delightful treat. Special shoutout to Praveen, Dinesh and the wonderful ladies of the staff who went above and beyond to care for us during our time there. I would highly recommend this property for nature lovers looking for a holiday away from the city. (As the villa is part of a farm, please expect mosquitoes and other insects in the outdoor areas. However, the staff ensure that they do not bother guests inside the villa.)

Staying at Kokum Tree was an invigorating experience, and the heartfelt dedication with which Sneha, Anuja, Praveen and Dinesh manage the place shines through. Spread across 5 verdant acres, this land is a living homage to Aaji's hard work and vision. As we wandered through the estate, we were introduced to a diverse palette of fruits and vegetables — from succulent chikus and mangoes to refreshing watermelons and even pineapples. I can't emphasize enough the beauty and knowledge encompassed in the guided walk. It's an enlightening journey that's especially engaging for younger ones. The nearby Panhalgad Dam offers a peaceful backdrop for morning strolls, and for those seeking a bit more adventure, there are little nooks and streams to wet your feet as well as trekking spots that promise awe-inspiring sunset vistas. The farm-to-table meals we enjoyed were simple yet sophisticated, evoking memories of a time gone by. Every meal was a journey, merging freshness with traditional flavors. But beyond the food and the views, it was the moments of tranquility on the deck overlooking the pond, the pottery sessions, and the board games and the complete disconnect from the noise of the modern world that made our stay truly memorable. For those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature's lap, this sanctuary is the perfect getaway

The Kokum Tree - 3 Hrs drive from Pune - is a perfect destination for Family get-together. Recently we visited this place. The hosts are very hospitable. The villa is surrounded by lush green trees, the farm visit where you can pick your own vegetables is the best experience. The Maharashtrian food is yummy. The elders can relax in a library while the younger ones can enjoy the surroundings. The experience is awesome. A must in everybody's list.

No concessions offered for the unavailability of the amenities shown on the website, neither were we informed about the unavailability of them prior to our travel. We found it out on the first day after reaching there and wanted to convert our 3D/2N booking to 2D/1N as there was nothing to do on the property and we all felt claustrophobic as we couldn’t even move out of the villa due to severe mosquito issue. The host wouldn’t even talk properly or offer any solution for the same. We would have to pay 50% amount for the third day even if we leave on the second day. We had multiple discussions on calls and texts but we were finally offered a concession of Rs 500 on a bill of 87k. WE WOULD HAVE NEVER CHOSEN THIS PROPERTY IF WE WOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED ABOUT POOL NOT WORKING PRIOR TO OUR BOOKING. It was one of our priorities to select a Homestay. The food prepared was so less in quantity that it was never fulfilling for a group of 7. Even the taste wasn’t upto the mark of a local Maharashtrian dish. On our final day before leaving in the morning, we asked for concession for the unavailability of the amenities shown on website. The host wouldn’t even reply in time and we had to catch our train from Mumbai at 5, so we needed to leave by 10 am. We woke up early to have this discussion with the hosts on call so that we could settle the remaining payment and depart on mutually agreeable terms. Since the host wasn’t available and we anyways had to talk on phone, we decided to leave and talk with host on the way back to Mumbai whenever they are available. We paid them the amount we felt okay with after considering all the services and amenities provided to us. Even then we were open for discussions. But the host wouldn’t agree to give any concessions for the services/amenities that weren’t available and would keep saying to send them the full payment. Services/amenities not available are as follows: 1. No organic farming 2. No vegetables/fruits picking from farm 3. No pool 4. No amphitheater (understandable since it was monsoon) should have still informed. 5. No cleanliness, everything was pretty shabby. 6. Size of rooms not mentioned on the website but we expected it would be big enough to fit in an extra mattress. It was so small that we would feel claustrophobic inside. 7. Extra mattress was so thin that I could feel my body touching the ground, also it was so smelly that one couldn’t even get a proper sleep. 8. AC remote wasn’t available (even if it was found later, no use to use when we were there) 9. Constant voltage fluctuations (understandable given it’s a village, but should be informed prior to booking) We are working professionals and it was our first trip since COVID. The least we could expect from the host is what is shown on the website. We went for a leisure trip not this mental harassment. On top of that, the host had the audacity to comment on our social media profiles for remainder of the payment to sabotage our image without having proper discussions. And this was just one day after we left. Imagine a host doing that even after paying them 63k for suffocating inside their small villa for 3 days. There is a heavy mosquitoes problem (understandable given it’s a farmstay) but there’s just one small living room where a group of 7 could sit and enjoy. It is obvious that even if just talk normally there would be some noise. But we were asked to keep our volume down to which we agreed and kept it down the second night. This was more like an army camp than a homestay. These two hosts have been horrible to us and on top of that sent us a legal notice for non payment of dues. Being in a hospitality business, the host sometimes need to bear the cost for non availability of the services. The customers will pay only for the services they get, not for the services they didn’t receive after being promised those while booking. I hope the hosts realize their mistake and make this stay a better place and offer better experience to the customers. The place is not as bad as these hosts are!
